Milofen kids contains ibuprofen which belongs to a group of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It has effect by relieving pain, swelling (inflammation) and reduces the high temperature.
Milofen kids may be used for relieving of light to moderate pain such as sore throats, teething, toothaches, earaches, headaches, minor injuries and sprains. It may also be used from the age of 3 months by children to relieve cold and flu symptoms and to lower fever, including fever after immunisation.
The active substance is ibuprofen.
1 ml of the suspension contains 20 mg ibuprofen).
Dosage
The adverse side effect may be brought to minimum if the lowest efficient dose is used for the shortest period needed to control the symptoms (вж. point 4.4).
Paediatric population
Children aged 3 months and more
At post-immunization pyrexia
The dose is 2,5 ml, which may be repeated after 6 hours, if necessary but not more than 2 doses of 2,5 ml for 24 hours. If the fever does not lower, it is necessary to consult a doctor.
At pain, high fever and symptoms of cold and flu:
The daily dose is 20-30 mg/kg body weight, divided into several takings. This may be achieved if it is used a syringe for oral forms, as follows:

Children aged 10-12 years | 30-40 kg | One dose of 15 ml 3 times a day for 24 hours |
The doses should be administered approximately every 6 to 8 hours (or at interval of minimum 4 hours between the different takings if necessary).
The safety and the efficacy of Milofen Kids at babies aged below 3 months or having a body weight below 5 kg are still not established, that is why they should not take this medicinal product.
The adverse side effect may be brought to minimum if the lowest efficient dose is used for the shortest period needed to control the symptoms (see the gastrointestinal and cardiovascular risks below).
Similarly to other anti-inflammatory medicines, Milofen kids may mask the signs of an infection.
At patients in advanced age the frequency of side effects to NSAID is increased, especially of gastrointestinal bleeding and perforation which may have a fatal outcome.
